Cut the oyster mushrooms in slices and score them. Curl and hold the shape with a toothpick. Deep fry or stir fry until the shape holds and remove tooth picks. Cook red dates in boiling water. Preserve broth.
Heat wok, add sesame oil, hot peppers and ginger, stir fry until fragrant. Add ginko nuts, stir. Add both mushrooms and stir. Add liquid from dates. Season with vegetarian oyster sauce and rock sugar syrup. Add basil and red dates. Stir and serve.
